Specialty drugs are prescription drugs that require special handling, administration or monitoring. These drugs are used to manage or treat complex conditions and diseases and are only available through a specialty pharmacy. Jefferson Health Plans works exclusively with Jefferson Specialty Pharmacy to process, coordinate and deliver specialty drugs to our members.

Prior Authorizations for Specialty Drugs

If you have been prescribed a specialty drug, please talk to your doctor about submitting a prior authorization request on your behalf.

We are available from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., seven days a week, from October – March 31 and 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, from April 1 – September 30. We are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
