How To Change Your Coverage

If you need to change your Medicare coverage during an enrollment period, Jefferson Health Plans is here to help.

  • If you want to change to:

    This is what you should do:

  • If you want to change to:

    Another Medicare health plan (within Jefferson Health Plans, or another Medicare plan)

    This is what you should do:

    Enroll in the new plan.

    You will automatically be disenrolled from your existing Jefferson Health Plans Medicare plan when your new plan's coverage begins.

  • If you want to change to:

    Original Medicare with a separate Medicare prescription drug plan

    This is what you should do:

    Enroll in the new Medicare prescription drug plan.

    You will automatically be disenrolled from your existing Jefferson Health Plans Medicare plan when your new plan's coverage begins.

  • If you want to change to:

    Original Medicare without a separate Medicare prescription drug plan. Note: If you disenroll from a Medicare prescription drug plan and go without creditable prescription drug coverage, you may need to pay a late enrollment penalty if you join a Medicare drug plan later.

    This is what you should do:

    Send us a written request to disenroll. Call Member Relations at 1-866-901-8000 (TTY 1-877-454-8477) if you need help on how to do this.

    Or contact Medicare at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227), 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and ask to be disenrolled. TTY users should call 1-877-486-2048.

    You will be disenrolled from your Jefferson Health Plans Medicare plan when your coverage in Original Medicare begins.
